    Privacy Policy for PodScout

    Effective Date: June 14, 2026

    Developer: DevWave Solutions LLC.

PodScout ("PodScout," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how PodScout collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the PodScout mobile application.

PodScout is designed to provide podcast discovery, library, and playback features without requiring you to create an account.

    1. Information We Collect

PodScout may collect or store the following categories of information in order to operate:

    Information stored on your device

    • Your podcast taste and recommendation preferences, such as favorite categories, preferred episode length, preferred listening platforms, and personalization settings
    • Topics you like or want to avoid
    • Followed podcasts and saved episodes
    • Listening progress and resume playback state
    • Playback settings, queue behavior, and notification settings
    • A cached catalog of podcast information and artwork to improve app performance

This information is currently stored locally on your device using system storage.

    Information fetched from third-party sources

To provide podcast discovery and playback features, PodScout requests podcast-related data from third-party sources, which may include:

    • Apple Podcasts search and chart data
    • Podcast RSS feeds
    • Podcast artwork URLs
    • Podcast audio/media URLs
    • Podcast directory fallback services such as Podcast Index
    • External listening destinations such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or podcast websites when available

These requests may include standard technical request data such as your IP address and device or network information as part of normal internet communications between your device and those third-party services.

    Notifications

If you enable notifications, PodScout may schedule:

    • Daily discovery reminders
    • New episode alerts for followed podcasts

At this time, these alerts are designed as local notifications on your device. PodScout does not currently rely on a PodScout account to deliver these core alerts.

    2. How We Use Information

    • Personalize podcast and episode recommendations
    • Maintain your library of followed podcasts and saved episodes
    • Restore listening progress and playback state
    • Enable queue and player functionality
    • Schedule and manage notification preferences
    • Fetch podcast metadata, RSS content, artwork, and playable media
    • Improve app reliability and the user experience

    3. How Recommendations Work

PodScout uses the preferences, saves, followed shows, and listening activity available on your device to shape discovery sections and recommendations inside the app.

If you choose reduced personalization, PodScout limits how strongly those personal signals are used in recommendations.

    4. Account Requirement

PodScout does not currently require you to create a PodScout account to use the core app experience.

    5. How Information Is Shared

We do not currently sell your personal information.

We do not currently operate a user account system that shares your profile or library with other users.

However, PodScout necessarily connects to third-party services to retrieve podcast content and related assets. As a result, those services may receive technical request information from your device when content is loaded, such as:

    • IP address
    • User agent or device or network request metadata
    • The specific resource requested, such as a feed, image, or audio file

PodScout may also open external links you choose to use, including third-party podcast platforms and websites. Your interactions with those third parties are governed by their own privacy policies.

    6. Data Storage and Retention

PodScout currently stores core preference and app-state data locally on your device. This may include:

    • Taste profile data
    • Saved and followed content
    • Listening progress
    • Playback settings
    • Notification preferences
    • Cached podcast catalog data
    • Cached artwork files

This data remains on your device unless removed by app deletion, device cleanup, or future in-app reset or clear actions where available.

    7. Push Notifications and Background Activity

PodScout may request permission to send notifications. If you decline, notification-based features may not function.

The app may also refresh podcast information or playback-related content as needed to support app features. PodScout's notification features are currently intended to support on-device reminders and alerts rather than a full account-based messaging system.

    8. Children's Privacy

PodScout is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through an account-registration system or similar direct submission flow.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information in another way, please contact us so we can review the situation.

    9. Data Security

We use reasonable measures appropriate to the app's design to protect information handled by PodScout. However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    10. Your Choices

You can control certain privacy-related behaviors by:

    • Adjusting your recommendation and personalization settings in the app
    • Updating or resetting your taste profile
    • Turning notifications on or off in the app and in iOS settings
    • Removing the app from your device to remove locally stored app data, subject to how iOS manages local storage and backups

    11. Third-Party Services

PodScout may rely on third-party services and content sources, including podcast directories, RSS hosts, artwork hosts, audio hosts, and external listening platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. You should review their privacy policies separately where relevant.

    12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date above and may provide additional notice inside the app or through other appropriate channels.
